The Walmart Grand Opening Prayer

By Pastor George Hemway

Trinity Church Of The Nazarene

No. Haverhill, New Hampshire

Father in Heaven: Thank You for this new day that You've given us.

Today, as we gather to celebrate the grand opening of Walmart and officially welcome them to our community, we recognize that the earth is the LORD's and everything in it and that You have founded and established our world.

Therefore we pray that all that takes place in this store would honor You, Lord and we ask You to bless this facility.

We pray, Lord, for the safety of all who are employed here as well as the customers. May this be a peaceful place for folks to work, and for families to shop, eat, and do their banking.

We're thankful for these new employment opportunities in our town and we pray for all who work here. May there be a spirit of cooperation amongst all. We ask You to help the managers, associates, and all workers to continue to learn their jobs and serve their employers and our community with sincerity and patience. Please help them, O God, through stressful times and situations that often occur in the retail sector. In times of weariness, may they remember that You have said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

We're also thankful for the Wal-Mart staff that has been here from out of town, helping to get things up and running. They have sacrificed time from their families for the sake of our community. Bless them and see them safely home soon.

It is with thankfulness that we lift up our community to you, Lord. Changes of this magnitude usually affect our daily lives, even in ordinary ways such as getting used to new traffic lights, increased traffic flow, and a few extra minutes that it may take to get through town. Help us, Lord, as a community, to adjust to these changes peacefully and graciously, and with a sense of unity as citizens living and working together, for You have told us, "Love your neighbor as yourself".

Bless and protect all of our public servants who may be called to this plaza in time of need. Thank you for their service to our community, as well as for all of the public and corporate officials, and construction personnel who have worked together, on behalf of Walmart and in the interest of our community.

Thank you, Heavenly Father, that we can seek You in prayer on special occasions such as this, as well as on a daily basis, for You assure us in Your Word that You have never forsaken those who seek You.

We pray this all in Jesus' name....

Amen.
