The First Live Performance In Front Of

The Restored Opera House Curtain

.....The Alumni Hall Cultural And Interpretive Center on Court Street in Haverhill hosted the local singing group "Angels Among Us". They entertained with Christmas carols and asked the audience to join in. A capacity crowd was present.

.....All were invited to view the unveiling of the stage curtain rescued from the Woodsville Opera House.

John F. Page, president of the Haverhill Historical Society, welcoming a packed house of viewers waiting to see the newly restored Woodsville Opera House Stage Curtain.

Shirley Cobb speaking as The Curtain is almost unrolled. She told about how she saved it with the permission of the then president of the Woodsville Guaranty Bank, Roland Currier. This happened as the Opera House was being renovated and turned into Senior Housing.

Chris Hadsel, whose company was in charge of cleaning up the curtain, explaining its uniqueness and some of the processes used in its restoration.
